The Goodbye

I was really sad all day as I finished packing my things to go to Orlando. It all felt unreal to me, like I had been waiting for that day for so long, and when it was finally time, I was not ready to go. My mom came home from work around 4:00 and we went to Bellacino’s to eat before we went to the airport. My flight was leaving at 6:40, so I was worried I would be rushed, but then I remembered NO ONE is like EVER in Lambert Airport, so I thought it was fine.

Once we got to Bellacino’s my mom gave me a card, and so did Alyssa. Alyssa was like ‘you can’t open it until it is your worst day ever,’ so I didn’t open it. I opened mom’s and of course it was a sappy mom and daughter card, and she wrote this really sappy message, but then, the thing that made me cry was when I saw she had printed out the lyrics to the song from Mama Mia, “Slipping Through My Fingers.” OH MY GOSH, if you have any kind of decent relationship with your mother, that song will make you ball your eyes out. It was great. Anyway, then we got in the car and headed toward the airport. We went to go and check my bags and of course, one was 63lbs and the other one was 32lbs, so we had to buy a bigger bag from the airport to put the light bag, and some stuff from the other bag in. (The new bag would prove to be a whole ordeal in itself when I arrive in Orlando). So I said goodbye to my mom and sister and Mar’Kyle, and I didn’t cry that hard, even though I wanted to. I get to the security gate and the guy looks at my boarding pass and I.D. and is all, ‘This is not you’ and I am like, “ummmm, yeah it is.” He is all, ‘what is your address,’ so I tell him, and then he is like ‘date of birth,’ so I tell him, and he is like, ‘okay, but you really need an updated picture. IS HE FOR REAL?! I just got that like a year ago. Whatever. So then there is this lady who is like old and saggy and rude and she will not let me reach in front of her to get a little bin thing to put my carry-on stuff in. Then I am holding up the line because of the lady and because I couldn’t get my lap-top case un-zipped so I could but my stupid thing in there, and this other old lady behind me is all, ‘move the line, move the line’ and I really wanted to turn around and be like, hey shut up, but I didn’t. So I get through security and I am putting on my shoes and stuff again, and I wave goodbye to my family one more time. Then I start walking to gate E6, and it is like THE LONGEST WALK EVER!! So I get there and get situated and then tell the man at the counter that I need to board first because I have asthma and when I am in stressful situations it tends to act up so my doctor told me to ask can I board first. He gave me a little blue care and scanned my boarding pass and I was on the plane, and ready to head to Orlando!
