The Guy, The Gay, and The Girl

Yesterday, I finished my training with Disney. It was fun, and I was excited to be done, and I am looking forward to being out on my own!

After our training was over, our training group, (so like 9 other people) decided it would be cool if that night we went to "Fantasmic." It is a show based inside Mickey's imagination, and there is water, and music and fire, and involves all of the classic movies, so if you ever get a chance to see it, you should. I cried during the Pocahontas part. ha ha. Anyway, so my friends Joey (the guy) and Jayson (the gay) invited me (the girl) to go. Well, the other girls in my group like hate me for no reason, and I was not planning on going anyway, because I wanted to take this party bus to this club called 'Bliss' but I found out the Jersey Shore cast was supposed to be there so I figured the cover would be ridiculous, so I didn't go. I came back and got dressed and the three of us went to Magic Kingdom, and we rode Splash Mountain, and I was soaked. Sometimes, you can get lucky if you sit in the back, and you will not get wet, but that was not one of those times. Then we ate dinner at this cool burger place where you like order your stuff on this touch-screen computer and then 2 seconds later it is ready. It was really delicious. After that, we rode the monorail to Hollywood Studios because that is where "Fantasmic" is. Since we had like an hour before the show, we rode Hollywood Tower of Terror. I FREAKING CRIED!!! IT WAS SOOOOO SCARY!!!! This little boy was in the line in front on us, and he was telling me not to worry, and not to be afraid, and it was a good ride and stuff. He was soooooo cute. Then he was like, bet you can't guess my name, what's yours. I was like, Amanda. He was like well mine, yeah, mine starts with a 'D'. (earlier I heard his mother talking and she was like Dylan get over here) so I was like, Oh, I remember, that's right..... Your name is Dylan. He was like HOW DID YOU KNOW?! I was like, I work for Mickey and he told me you were going to be here! He was like, MOM MOM MOM MOM MICKEY KNOWS I AM HERE!!!!!!!!!!!!!! His mom was like, yeah honey. It was soooooo cute!!
After Tower of Terror, we went over to the line for "Fantasmic." It was soooo long, but since the other people we work with were standing in line, we were close to the front. So we walk over, and this Super annoying girl Meg, acknowledges Joey, and then looks at Jayson and rolls her eyes, and looks at me and says '.....um aren't you supposed to be on a bus somewhere?' I wanted to say, 'aren't you supposed to be knitting somewhere?' but instead I said, 'my plans changed, and sorry to disappoint you.' and she just stood there looking stupid. She is annoying. Like I can describe all of the ways she annoys me, but she really does. And the other day she like told this long story for no reason about being in an elevator and it plunging 8 floors. Yeah right, first of all, elevators use hydraulics now, so it is not going to plunge anywhere, and second, if it did break or something, she would slowly go all the way to the ground until it stopped. So she is also a pathological liar. Just like she said something about being in 'Nine' at her high school, but she couldn't remember who she was. For real? I don't know a single high school that would let a theatre department do that musical, but whatever. I think it was the only musical she has ever seen, so she was trying to be cool. Ugh. She is stupid.
Anyway, so we get up to the seating and we somehow got separated from them. How did that happen? And we ended up in the very front and didn't have to see them ever again. It was super fun. Then we went to go home, and it started raining and I got wet and it took well over an hour to make it back.
All in all it was a fun night, even though 'Meg' makes me mad. She is nuts.
Oh and the whole "The Guy, The Gay and The Girl" is going to be the name of our sitcom because we are sooooo hilarious, ABC def will want to make a sitcom about our adventures together. It will be like 'Will and Grace" except better, and funnier.

I'm ill, as in, im sick, not like Weezy F. Baby

So I woke up when my alarm went off at 5:30am. I am not happy about that. I had a headache and a stuffy nose, and then I realized it was allergies. I made it to the bus on time, the right bus, and then rode to a location in Animal Kingdom. I did training there today. Due to my contract with Disney I am not aloud to talk about training.
However, I can talk about lunch time! So, during my lunch time I met these girls who where from China, and they were from two different sides of the country and they explained to me how there are different dialects in China, like how there are accents in the U.S. Except we can understand the people who are from the north, south, east, or west, and we all speak 'English,' in China, while they all speak what is considered 'Chinese,' the people from the north, south, east, and west can not understand each other. They gave me an example by each saying the phrase, 'Hello, How are you?' The girl Audrey said it very short and harsh, and it took about as long as it does for an English-speaking person to say it, whereas, Matoshig said it with long 'O' and 'U' sounds and it took her almost twice as long, to say the exact same thing. I asked them since everyone in China is required to learn English, and they couldn't understand one another in the different  Chinese dialects, could they speak English to each other? They said no, they would not do that because it is looked down upon in China to speak English, unless dealing with a business transaction involving other countries, or tourist. I thought that was pretty weird, but kind of cool. Then I asked if they knew each other prior to coming to the Disney College Program, and they said no, and that if they were in China, they probably never would have become friends because it is also 'socially displeasing' to be friends with people outside your language barrier thing. China has a lot of strange customs.
After lunch we went back training, which once again I am not aloud to talk about.
Then it was time to go, and I rode a shuttle bus to the regular bus stop. However, because the shuttle bus ran a little late, I missed the 4:30pm bus and had to wait an hour for the 5:30pm bus. While I was waiting, it began to torrential downpour, and of course I had no umbrella, and I am in nice business clothes, and my shirt is white and ruffly, and I had great hair, but it all got ruined from the stupid rain. I had to stand in the rain waiting for the bus for 35min, so when I got on the bus, I was freezing cold, and my allergies were like 50times worse. Then it took an hour to get back to the bus stop near my apartment, where I had to walk another ten min in the rain to make it back. While I was on the bus, this boy named Taylor decided he wanted to talk to me. So he is asking about my school blah blah blah, and all that, and then he was like, 'can I get your number, you are so beautiful, I would love to take you out on the town sometime.' Tell my why I laughed right in this dudes face and then said, 'I am not too sure what that means. But I will take your number how about that?' So he gave me his number, which I deleted as soon as he got off the bus, and the whole time I am thinking like, "there is no way I look 'beautiful' right now, he is a creepy pervert because I have on this sopping wet dress shirt." So I make it back to my apartment still dripping wet, get in the shower, eat a handful of wheat-thins, and lie down and sleep until 11pm.
I wake up and decide I can not wait until tomorrow to go and get meds from walmart, and so i look at the bus route thing and it says there is a walmart bus coming at 12:17, so I go out to the stop around 12. I am there alone for a while, and then these 3 French men come up and sit opposite me on the bench. They are like, "you go to house of blues?" I am like, " no, walmart to get medication." then the boy in red is like "we leave the states in 2 weeks, we are very sad, come out with us, beautiful girl aways make us feel better. you have fun, tomorrow we make dinner for you and your friends." I was like, "that's nice, but I can't, thanks." When really I was thinking, they are freaking weird, and french boys are NOTHING like they are in the Mary-Kate and Ashley movie, "Passport to Paris."
I finally got on the bus and went to Wal-mart, got some 24hour subway, and then waited another 40 min for the bus to come back. My roommate Erin is so sweet, she found out I was gone and waited up until I came back, and when I opened the door, she was reading the bus schedule, and was like, I was getting worried, I am glad you made it back! She is so sweet.
Overall, today kind of sucked, but whatever. I have to be up in 3 hours, so I am going to bed. Good night.

I missed the bus

SO. Why did I wake up at 5:30, get dressed, make it to the stupid bus ON TIME (i know right?!) get on the WRONG BUS because I can not read a bus route, sit there FOREVER, watch the RIGHT bus drive past me, not knowing then it was the right bus, as the wrong bus driver when is she leaving because I will be late, and she... says, 7:30. FOOL THEN WHY THE HECK WERE YOU HERE AT 6:25 WHEN MY BUS WAS SUPPOSED TO BE HERE?! UGH!!! defeated.

so i ended up calling the lady who does all the training stuff, and she is all, it is not a big deal, we can reschedule. she was nice, but i am so mad, because i really made it on to the stop on time, actually 5 min early. I am sad. :(

Then I came home and tried to take a nap, but I didn't feel well, so I couldn't fall asleep. It has been kind of a stupid day. Ugh. I hope tomorrow will be better.

Traditions and Magic Kingdom

We had to wake up at the butt-crack of dawn to do this thing called Traditions. It was cool, but because of the contract I signed with Disney, I am not aloud to talk about what it was, or what we learned or did. But, for the most part it was fun.

Then last night we (me and the roomies) went to Magic Kingdom! It was SO EXCITING!!! Cinderella's castle was soooooo BEAUTIFUL!!! And since it was night, it was warm outside, but we were not too hot, and none of the lines were longer then 20min. The first thing we did was climb through 'The Swiss Family Robinson' tree house, which was cool, but too many stairs. Next we went to the 'Pirates of the Carrbian' ride, and it was like soooooooooo cool looking!! The special affects were great, and even though it was  boat ride, it still had smallish hills, and the 'element of surprise.' It was fun and really wish my sister would have been there because she would have freaked out because the Jack Sparrow guy looks SO FREAKING REAL!! Then we met up with some friends we met at the pool party names, Anthony and Ryan. They have been at Disney 3 months longer then us, so they knew the fastest ways to get to the good rides. We then got stuck because there was a parade going through, but it was okay because it was SOOOOOO PRETTY! Tinkerbell was sooooooo cute and everyone was lit up with lights and glow things on there costumes and Alice talked to me, and Minnie and Mickey were SOOOOO cute!! I wish my mom would have been able to see that, because she thinks stuff like that is cool. I tried to call her so I could describe what I was seeing and she could be there kind of, but as soon as sh picked up my phone died. :( Then we rode splash mountain!! IT WAS SOOOOOO FUN!!!!!!! I wanted to ride the 'small world ride' but it is closed down due to refurbishment. :(  Then we went to Thunder Mountain which is that cool train roller-coaster they would show on my Disney VHS with the purple box when I was little. I had always wanted to ride it, so I was really excited when we did. It was kind of  lame, but I am glad I was able to go on it. Then we went to this like Mickey 4-D symphony show, and IT WAS THE COOLEST 4-D SHOW I HAVE EVER BEEN TOO!!!! Plus I knew all the songs so I sang along!! It made me feel like a little kid!! Then we were going to go on Snow White's forest adventure, but we ended up going to THE HAUNTED MANSION!!!
Everyone is all, it is not scary blah blah blah. And I am like thinking, okay the last time I did it I was like 3 or something, so maybe this time I can handle it. WRONG. They brought us in this room and then they turned out the lights and it was pitch black and I screamed the whole time until the lights came back on. Then you get in these like moving cart things that takes you around the mansion. I was doing okay again until the very end where the guy was all 'we have hitch hiking spirits that will follow you home' and I look up and it is this mirror, and IT LOOKS LIKE THERE IS A REAL LIVE GHOST SPIRIT THING SITTING ON MY LAP!!!!!!!!!!!! I cried. Like seriously for 5 min after it was over. Then I was mad I went on it. Then it was time to leave because the park was closing.
We rode a Ferry back to where the car was parked. It was nice and breezy on the water. All in all it was a good night, but I am still upset about that ghost.

POOL PARTY

This party was soooooooooooo much fun like I can not even remember what I did during the day before we had this party. Okay, so before the actual pool party, myself, Layshia, Danielle, and Judith went to the pool. It was fun and we met some random people and that was pretty much it. So we get back and we start to get ready for the party and like I was not going to swim at the pool party, because I wanted to stand around and look cute. So we are about to walk out the door and all of the sudden there is like a freaking torrential down pour! Like I have never in life seen anything like that. It seriously was like when you are a kid and you go to the swimming pool and they have that big bucket that dumps water out and you get like soaking wet, that for real is what it was like. So we hear music still and we are like, 'it's fine we will just take umbrella's. We are walking over to the pool and seriously within like 45 seconds of being outside we are soaked and look like we jumped in the pool with our full clothes on. So it ends up being like hilarious and we go and take pictures with princess Belle all soaking wet, and then we get our free pizza and it got all gross because of the rain. We all came back to the apartment, and changed into our swimming suites and went back and jumped in! We swam while it was raining and there were like so many people in the pool you could hardly move. The DJ played lame music, but we got out and danced in the rain. It felt good to dance in the rain, it was like one of those moments where you just realize you are so alive and you have so many possibilities ahead of you. (so then, i cried like an idiot because I was finally in Orlando dancing in the rain like an idiot) Then we got back in the pool and Yvonne and I wanted to play chicken so I asked this random guy like would he play chicken with us and he was like "yeah sure" in some southern accent. Then I asked this other random guy, who was french if he would play chicken with us, and his response was "No I do not want any chicken." I said "No play chicken" He said "I do not like the taste of Chicken." I WAS CRACKING UP!!! I said "No she is going to sit on your shoulders and I am going to knock her off okay?" He said "OH OKAY you call that chicken? Chicken is food no?"  I was like "yeah the game is called chicken so is the food." He was like "Okay sure." So we played chicken and it was a lot of fun. I won. Go team. Anyway, the party was fun and random, and next Tuesday, there is another one.

The Roommies

Later that night once things started slowing down I met the other girls I will be living with. We live in a 3 bedroom apartment, so there are 6 of us total.
My roommate is Layshia, she is from Colorado. When I met her, she seemed cool, but I didn't think I would have much in common with her.
Then is room 2 there is Danielle and Judith. They were both pretty out-going and I liked that, so on first impressions, I thought the three of us would get along.
Then in room 3 there is Erin, who is like the sweetest 'southern belle' you will ever meet, and Yvonne, who guess what, is the SAME NICE/COOL hispanic girl I met on the shuttle bus the day before.

Based off of first impressions, I thought everyone was nice and we would get along, but it felt awkward because it seemed like we didn't really have much to talk to each other about. However, now that we have hung out a lot since we have been here, we are all really getting along, and I really like the girls. I am happy they are my room mates.

We also all seem to have formed a smallish-famly type thing, and it's funny to see all of our personalities mesh together. It is like this:
Erin: The Baby (in the sweet kind way, not like she crys like a baby)
Yvonne: The Intellect (she is kind of intreverted, but still fun and she seems SO smart)
Judith: Tex-Mex (She is fun and so full of life, plus she always has random witty things to say)
Danielle: The Barbie (She is pretty and used to do cheerleading so she is always SO peppy! &really funny)
Layshia: The Bold One (She is shy and quiet some of the time, but other times, she just says exactly how she feels, and she is funny to me. I really enjoy her company.)
I guess if they had to say what I was they would probably say I was the 'Party Girl.' I have had a lot of fun at Disney so far! The next day, I would go to one of the best parties I have been to in a long time.

Disney Check-In

I woke up late (yeah big surprise right) and I am all stressed out like, 'Omg I'm going to be late and they will hate me' but whatever. So I get dressed and I look all cute and get ready to leave the hotel. How come they put a recite under my door, but on the back of it was a note attached reading, 'welcome to Orlando, I hope you like it here. If you ever need someone to have lunch with give me a call, Gary.' OKAY CRAZY!!! He was freaking nuts, anyway, so I go to leave my room, but the bag I had to buy for the plane is SO HEAVY I can not lift it. So I ask this nice looking man if he can carry my bag for me? He looks at me and says 'I don't work here.' WELL EXCUSE ME! He was dressed like a lame, so I ASSUMED that he was working there. But you know what they say when you assume... anyway, I find a real person and he helps me go to check-out and then I ask the other bell-hop guy to get me a taxi. He puts my stuff in this ladies black SUV. I am like, okay, it looked legit, and I get in and tell the lady where I need to go. So we get to my spot and I am like, how much do I owe you, and she is sounds like she says 2.80, and I am like 'that is not very much, are you sure that is right?' and she is all 'yes yes' and I am like okay, and give her 5.00 and tell her to keep the change. So I get out and follow these nifty little signs like with all the characters on them they say stuff like 'Your journey begins here' and 'Dream it, Do it, Disney' and 'WELCOME TO THE TEAM' and other things like that. So there are like a billion people in line (more like 250 to 300 but whatever) and this cab driver lady like comes out of no where like yelling in Spanish like "alkjhflahnlfih foilhfrkje kalhf;ke" no idea what she is saying to me, and she is like, 'you only gave 5.' I said 'yeah, you said 2.80' and she is like 'NO NO I SAID THE 1 AND THE 2' I am like '12?' and she is like, '1 AND 2 AND YOU GIVE 5' So i didn't know what to do, so I took that money back and gave her a ten and three ones and she was like 'Thank you, nice day.' FOR REAL?! BECAUSE I'M PRETTY SURE WHEN I ASKED YOU LIKE 5 TIMES DID YOU SAY 2.80 YOU SAID YES!! So then everyone on this line is like looking at me like I am an idiot, and my stress level raised a ton. So we sign papers and stuff blah blah, get our apartment keys and then we go to take like our I.D. pictures. The guy who was doing my picture was like crabby and I couldn't understand anything he was saying. So they take my picture and I guess because I am short or something, the picture is weird and there is a lot of room above my head but you can't see my neck or anything, so it looks really dumb. Then I wait for like 45 min for this bus that is supposed to be taking me to my apartment building, and I have somewhere I have to be to be fingerprinted and all that at 12:40 and it was almost 12 before the bus came. I get off at my apartment complex and it is really nice and there is a big pool and clubhouse thing, and I have those two SUPER HEAVY bags that I can not lift, and it is SO HOT and I have to get finger printed and I have no idea how to navigate to where ever my apartment is supposed to be. Then this random man who was from 'The UK, I go back in 3 weeks, I been 'ere about a year' took one of the bags and helped me find my room. I go in, and all the beds already have stuff on them and then there is a room across from the kitchen that has an empty bed, so I put my stuff down and head back out toward the bus stop, which is like a 10 min walk away. I get there just in time to get on the bus and the guy is like, 'do you have your paperwork?' and I realize in my rush to make it back to the bus, I left my stuff in my room!! So I say nothing and turn and walk away. I get all the way back to the complex and walk up 3 flights of stairs (because I am on the 3rd floor) and go to this door and realize I am at the wrong building. So naturally, when your are distressed you do what any normal 19 year old girl would do, and sit on the stairs and have a crying fit for 10 min while people walk past you like 'what a weirdo' 'what is her problem?' Then I got up and figured out where I was going. I finally made it to the finger printing thing, and found out I will be a Character Attendant, which I am looking forward to. Later that night, I met my room-mates.

The Flight and Orlando's Greetings

I picked a seat in a row with this nice looking younger lady. She was very chatty, and nice. Her name was Emily, and we talked some of the time, but then she fell asleep and I became freaking scared because we were like flying through a thunderstorm. There was like SO MUCH turbulence, it was soooo freaking scary. But, because of the storm, we had to take a different route, which made it as we were flying in, we flew right over Magic Kingdom and I saw Cinderella's Castle all lit-up and beautiful from the sky. We landed, and I started crying. Idk why. Anyway, so I get my bags and meet these other girls who are doing the Disney Program as well. Two of them are like extra weird, and the third one was like nice. We get on the shuttle and in the back seat there is a family of Chinese people, (who had like the worst, loud , bad, brat kids, ever.) and then like this really really really LARGE girl who smelled like Frito's, and this other Hispanic girl who was like snobby. So the Frito's girl is like talking to me, but I can't understand anything she is saying because her neck was so fat that she couldn't like open her mouth all the way, and her smell was killing my brain-cells. They all finally get off, as well as the nice regular Hispanic girl, and I am on the shuttle alone with this Nigerian man called Raumond John-Taylor. I thought his name was like hilarious, so I took a picture of his name-tag, but it didn't turn out well on my phone. I didn't know what he was saying to me, but he kept talking and was really nice.

Then I arrived at my hotel and I am like, WOW REALLY FANCY, because, it was sooooo nice in there. So I carry like my heavy million pound bags to the front desk to check in, where they proceed to tell me my room has not been paid for, and I am like, well yeah it has, my mom bought the thing on Priceline, DUH. And then I had to call my mom and it was like this whole huge ordeal, and then he was like, well you can't check in and then I cried and he was like, come over here. So I go to the other side of the desk thing, and he is like, "I know this is going to sound weird, but I live alone, I get off in 30min, I have a dog, it's a one bedroom apartment, I would take the couch and you could come back with me and I will take you where ever you need to go in the morning, I promise I am not a stalker, I just feel bad for you."

IS HE EVEN SERIOUS?!?!?!?!??!?!!!!! WHO SAYS THAT!!!!!!!!!???????????? So I am like, dude, I have to call my mom. So I go and sit down to gather my thoughts, and my phone rings and it's mom and she is pissed, like 'Amanda what the hell blah blah blah' so I didn't tell her what the man said, and she was like, let me talk to them, I took a picture of my credit card blah blah blah.' So I take Gary, (that was his name, Gary. Like from teen mom. LOL) the phone and I am all, my mom wants to talk to you. So they are on the phone for like EVER and then Gary (LOL) comes over is all, 'your room is ready.' So I get to my room and it is sooooo nice and big and it had a walk out porch thing that went straight to the pool. Then a knock on my door and this lady is standing there and she is like, 'I heard about your situation, room-service is closed so this one is on the house.' and hands me a personal cheese pizza and water!! FOR REAL?! It was like the best cheese pizza ever. Then I showered and went to sleep to get ready for my check in on Wednesday morning.

The Goodbye

I was really sad all day as I finished packing my things to go to Orlando. It all felt unreal to me, like I had been waiting for that day for so long, and when it was finally time, I was not ready to go. My mom came home from work around 4:00 and we went to Bellacino’s to eat before we went to the airport. My flight was leaving at 6:40, so I was worried I would be rushed, but then I remembered NO ONE is like EVER in Lambert Airport, so I thought it was fine.

Once we got to Bellacino’s my mom gave me a card, and so did Alyssa. Alyssa was like ‘you can’t open it until it is your worst day ever,’ so I didn’t open it. I opened mom’s and of course it was a sappy mom and daughter card, and she wrote this really sappy message, but then, the thing that made me cry was when I saw she had printed out the lyrics to the song from Mama Mia, “Slipping Through My Fingers.” OH MY GOSH, if you have any kind of decent relationship with your mother, that song will make you ball your eyes out. It was great. Anyway, then we got in the car and headed toward the airport. We went to go and check my bags and of course, one was 63lbs and the other one was 32lbs, so we had to buy a bigger bag from the airport to put the light bag, and some stuff from the other bag in. (The new bag would prove to be a whole ordeal in itself when I arrive in Orlando). So I said goodbye to my mom and sister and Mar’Kyle, and I didn’t cry that hard, even though I wanted to. I get to the security gate and the guy looks at my boarding pass and I.D. and is all, ‘This is not you’ and I am like, “ummmm, yeah it is.” He is all, ‘what is your address,’ so I tell him, and then he is like ‘date of birth,’ so I tell him, and he is like, ‘okay, but you really need an updated picture. IS HE FOR REAL?! I just got that like a year ago. Whatever. So then there is this lady who is like old and saggy and rude and she will not let me reach in front of her to get a little bin thing to put my carry-on stuff in. Then I am holding up the line because of the lady and because I couldn’t get my lap-top case un-zipped so I could but my stupid thing in there, and this other old lady behind me is all, ‘move the line, move the line’ and I really wanted to turn around and be like, hey shut up, but I didn’t. So I get through security and I am putting on my shoes and stuff again, and I wave goodbye to my family one more time. Then I start walking to gate E6, and it is like THE LONGEST WALK EVER!! So I get there and get situated and then tell the man at the counter that I need to board first because I have asthma and when I am in stressful situations it tends to act up so my doctor told me to ask can I board first. He gave me a little blue care and scanned my boarding pass and I was on the plane, and ready to head to Orlando!
